how to transfer sms from android to galaxy s3, when the files are different i.e. vmsg to xml

When transferring sms from android to galaxy, the data is in a different file. My oppo phone stores msgs in vmsg format & the galaxy in xml format. The different type of files do not work, or are not imported due to the different formats. Does anyone have a solution
