Google Brings its Trade-in Program to the Google Store with Pixel and Pixel XL

Google seems to really be ramping up for the upcoming launch of the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Google Home Mini and more that’s happening in just a couple of weeks. The company recently partnered with Motorola to launch the first Android One smartphone in the United States and with that they also introduced a trade-in program for Project Fi customers. Now, we can see they have brought an expanded version of this trade-in program to the Google Store for those who want to purchase a Pixel phone.

It was only a couple of days ago when we learned of Project Fi’s trade-in program for select Nexus devices. For most, that seemed to be a major drawback to the program as it was limited to Nexus devices in the first place. Not only that, but you were only able to get up to $165 and most will get less than that due to the checks and requirements they have. It was speculated that Google would bring a trade-in program to the Google Store for the launch of the new Pixel phones, but it looks like that happened early.

If you head to the Pixel phone product page in the Google Store, you’ll see a trade-in widget right under the storage option one. Thankfully, this trade-in program is much more diverse than the one offered by Project Fi as it lets you trade-in a device from the following manufacturers: Apple, Samsung, LG, Google, Huawei, and Motorola. After you choose which OEM makes your smartphone, you’ll be asked for details about it including storage capacity, carrier, and the condition of the device.

Since the OEM option varies so widely, we also have a big variance on how much you can get for the trade-in. The lowest amount looks to be for the iPhone SE which can go as low as $30 (or as high as $143), while the best offer is for the iPhone 7 Plus which goes as high as $388. You can find a list of devices available in this program below.
