An HTC-made device that’s alleged to be the U11 Plus was benchmarked by Geekbench earlier today, having been found in the tool’s database identified as the 2Q4D1. A model number seemingly related to the newly uncovered one has already been spotted in China earlier this month, with recent reports suggesting that the rumored Android flagship will be officially announced in the Far Eastern country in early November. The specs of the 2Q4D1 suggest that the device in question is of the high-end variety, with Geekbench identifying it as being equipped with the Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM. The Qualcomm-made SoC found in the benchmarked handset was listed as having a base frequency of 1.9GHz which corresponds to the chip’s power-efficient cluster, whereas its high-performing quad-core configuration was clocked at up to 2.45GHz in the original HTC U11 and that will likely still be the case with its revision.
The HTC 2Q4D1 was also benchmarked as featuring 4GB of RAM while running Android 8.0 Oreo, presumably enhanced with the latest iteration of the HTC Sense mobile software suite. According to recent reports, the HTC U11 Plus will be largely identical to the U11 in terms of internal hardware and the newly unveiled benchmark listing adds more credence to that possibility. The upcoming flagship is hence rumored to be available in two variants, with the one tested by Geekbench presumably being the more affordable model with 64GB of storage space, whereas the Taiwanese phone maker should also release a version with double the flash memory and 6GB of RAM. Both iterations should feature a Hybrid SIM setup, meaning they’ll provide consumers with a choice between a second Nano SIM card or a microSD card with a capacity of up to 256GB. The main difference between the U11 and U11 Plus is said to be in the design of the two handsets, with the upcoming one supposedly adopting a relatively bezel-free aesthetic while retaining the pressure-sensitive Edge Sense frame.
HTC is expected to hold a new product event in China on November 2nd which is when the U11 Plus is said to be officially unveiled alongside its availability details. Latest rumors point to a late November release and a price tag that could be slightly lower to the one of the original U11 which started at around $700, depending on the territory.
