Software company Honeywell on Tuesday announced the Mobility Edge Platform, a new business solution meant to facilitate the process of deploying and managing Android devices in the enterprise environment. The framework comes with a guarantee of four years of software support spanning Android Nougat, Android Oreo, Android P, and Android Q, with its creators stating that the long-term commitment is meant to encourage their (future) clients to adopt the solution without any reservations, being confident that their choice will continue enjoying software support for years to come. The Mobility Edge Platform is meant to encompass both hardware and software, being aimed at making the deployment of mobile devices easier and more secure, according to the Fort Mill, South Carolina-based firm.
The platform also ships with tools designed to maximize productivity by increasing the average data capture speeds within an enterprise environment and allowing employees of any particular company to communicate in a manner that’s more straightforward and secure. Voice communications and scanning features are also part of the package, as is a proprietary battery runtime maximizer meant to optimize the performance of any deployed device and make sure it uses the potential of its cell to its full capacity. In real-world scenarios, the optimizer will likely extend the operational duration of any given Android device, Honeywell said. The very nature of the newly announced platform aims for utilizing a common architecture, allowing enterprise clients to deploy apps after running a single universal test, thus being a more efficient solution than many of its existing alternatives. Apart from battery optimization, the Mobility Edge Platform was also made with IT support in mind, allowing Honeywell’s clients to integrate otherwise inflexible technologies into their existing services without committing to significant investments that would otherwise be warranted, as indicated by the software firm.
In addition to a new enterprise platform, the company announced Dolphin CT60, a rugged smartphone designed to offer a maximum level of battery life and productivity capabilities without compromises. The Android-oriented focus of the solution will be pursued for the foreseeable future, Honeywell suggested, indicating that its technology strategy will allow its clients to focus on its products and services instead of logistics.
