Huawei Y6 Pro (2017) Launches In Several European Countries ~ All Things Android

A new Huawei Y6 Pro (2017) has officially made its way to Europe, making its way to several countries at an affordable price point of roughly £185 in the UK and should be priced similarly across Europe. The smartphone is now available for purchase in the UK, Italy, Germany, and France. As the name itself suggests, the handset comes as an upgraded version of the existing Huawei Y6 (2017), sporting a number of notable improvements to warrant the “Pro” moniker. Compared to the regular version launched back in May, the new Huawei Y6 Pro retains many specifications, but it features a higher-quality build and some upgrades.

First off, the Huawei Y6 Pro (2017) ditches the plastic build of the Huawei Y6 (2017) and replaces it with a more premium metal design. The new model also replaces the MediaTek chip found in the regular Huawei Y6 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. Moreover, the Huawei Y6 Pro (2017) adds an extra layer of security thanks to the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, which the Huawei Y6 lacks. According to Huawei, the fingerprint scanner can securely unlock the smartphone in just 0.5 seconds. Other specs include a 5-inch HD display (1,280 x 720 pixels), slim bezels on the sides, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of native storage space, expandable with a microSD card slot, a 13-megapixel main camera, and a 5-megapixel front shooter.

The Huawei Y6 Pro (2017) further comes with a 3,020 mAh battery, which should last for up to 12 hours of 4G web browsing, up to 15 hours of video playback, and up to two days of continuous music listening, according to Huawei. Unlike the Huawei Y6 (2017), which launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Huawei’s own Emotion UI (EMUI) 4.1 skin on board, the new Huawei Y6 Pro (2017) runs the newer Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 on top. Just like the Huawei Y6 (2017) and the Huawei Y5 (2017), which share incredibly similar specs, the Huawei Y6 Pro (2017) comes at the budget segment of the smartphone market. Although it comes with slightly upgraded specs and a more premium metal design, the Huawei Y6 Pro (2017) is still a budget offering without any high-end specs. Nevertheless, the smartphone should deliver a decent experience for its price and category.
