LG V30 Video Review – Small Bezels, Big Bite

LG is back and looking better than ever with the V30. As the third in the series and their biggest flagship phone for 2017, it’s no wonder LG has been marketing like crazy for each and every feature packed into this big time phone. Featuring the smallest bezels ever to grace an LG phone, the 6-inch P-OLED display on the V30 feels no bigger than a regular 5.2-inch phone would, and ends up being almost no larger than the fantastic LG G6 the company released this past Spring. Packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of UFS 2.1 grade internal storage and microSD card support for expandable storage, the V30 is packed to the gills with the latest in technology.

All this while remaining one of the thinnest flagships around and easily one of the lightest phones at this size, the V30 feels absolutely fantastic in the hand. Its glass and metal construction is IP68 water and dust resistant, and at $799 it’s certainly more affordable than many other flagship phones out there right now. LG has packed some brand new security features into the mix as well, sporting Sensory’s visual and audio unlocking tools to both recognize your face as well as your voice. This gives additional ways to unlock the phone that are touted as more secure than the same methods offered by other OEMs, keeping simple tricks like pictures or video of your likeness from being used to unlock your phone.

LG is also packing in its biggest and best camera technology, from the 16-megapixel main sensor on the back, to the secondary ultra wide-angle 13-megapixel camera alongside it. They’re also packing in the most feature rich camera experience you’ll find on any smartphone out there, with a manual camera mode that will make some professional cameras jealous. The new manual preset marketplace, Graphy, helps experts and beginners alike choose the best way to shoot a scene without having to think about much. This combined with the awesome new Cine Zoom mode that looks more like a professional camera with a zoom lens, and of course the awesome wide-angle goodness that we’ve gotten from LG devices for years, and you’ll soon realize why this is one of the best phones ever made.
