Samsung Gear 360 owners can now edit videos using the V360 app by way of a new partnership between Samsung and V360, which the companies announced during yesterday’s Samsung Developer Conference 2017. The new partnership allows those with a Gear 360 to access their camera and all stored footage using the new application right from their mobile device, which V360 notes has been made possible thanks to the Samsung Gear 360 SDK, which allows developers open access to integrate their products and services with Samsung’s 360-degree camera.
The V360 app is not technically available for use with the Gear 360 just yet, as Samsung just announced the Gear 360 SDK yesterday at the conference, and although V360 had access to the SDK beforehand and had already created this app for use with the camera, the Gear 360 will still require a firmware update to allow third-party apps to access it. Once that’s done though, the app should work just fine and allow users a plethora of features to enhance their Gear 360 experience.
The V360 app will offer tons of great features to owners of the camera, like the ability to open the app and begin recording with the camera without having to touch the camera’s manual controls. More than that, though, V360 will allow you a slew of different editing tools like trimming your videos down to just the right spot with simple-to-use slider buttons, and you can even add in your favorite audio using your device’s library of music tracks, which you can browse through right from V360 and pick the one you want. You’ll also be able to use the app to combine multiple 360 clips together, and sort them all for easy organization and browsing later on if you want. In addition to choosing your own music, the app will also have its own library of track to select from. Once all the editing is done saving looks to be quick and painless and there’s even a share button you can access right away, that is if you want to share it immediately to your social feeds like YouTube or Facebook. For now, this new V360 app will only support the Gear 360, but V360 also has plans to support more cameras in the future.
